Workshop 1 Amazing Tour of BOSCH Head Office followed by RTL Presentation and Q&A

 

What a fitting end to our first series of workshops at BOSCH Head Office.

 

We are absolutely delighted with the outcomes and feedback from the many stakeholders.

None more than the students who have been just delightful. In my 20 years of teaching this is certainly up there as one of my proudest moments!

 

We are so excited to commence Workshop 2 in 2 weeks time. We now will engage with 7 schools and double the number of undergrads (10 up from 5).

 

I think the most rewarding element is the collaboration taking place across so many stakeholders. Tonight we had Students, Parents, Teachers, Grandparents, Undergraduates, a variety of Industry Groups, AusIndustry representing Government. (I hope I didn’t leave anyone out) My passion is Innovation and Networking. To see a community come together to celebrate the “village” raising a child was a very special moment for me.

 

I’m going to just share what took place from start to finish so our friends of RTL get a sense of what took place.

 

So first Amy and Mounir (BOSCH Corporate Communications) provided a short presentation before taking students and some parents on a tour. This was a great opportunity for our students to learn more about the work of Bosch. One thing I learnt was that 92% of BOSCH is owned by a charity.

 

 

Then our students got to go behind the scenes and see real robots at work. They saw projects that are still a work in progress and understand some of the design process that of course is iterative. This was amazing!

 

 

 

Then our students got to get the behind the wheel of the autonomous car that BOSCH is working on. How cool for students to not only get behind the wheel but contemplate being literally a driving force behind this future technology. Again just an amazing opportunity!

 

 

Then in pairs our students got to experience being a passenger via Virtual Reality. Now that is really amazing!

 

At the end of the tour we then went on to hear a short presentation by me and then moved into a Q&A that saw 3 students, 3 undergrads and 3 engineers on the panel. We had some great questions and our expert panel did a terrific job of answering these questions.
