Thanks Louis Spence from Randstad for sharing such an important industry perspective with these young guns!
Our enthusiastic team greatly appreciated your insight as a professional in recruitment and it was great we could give back to these generous undergraduates who volunteer to assist in our workshops at BOSCH.
Thank you Louis for hosting and presenting to our amazing volunteers. It was so great for them to hear from a world leader, Randstad in recruitment on what prospective employers are looking for. Last night we recognized and celebrated some very significant milestones.
Special mentions and huge shout to Raj Murugan, a BOSCH intern that has participated in all 25 starter workshops and 16 extension workshops over the past 18 months. Raj has amassed an incredible 123 volunteer hours in RTL Workshops!
We also recognized Emily Kuo’s 16 starter workshops and 14 extension workshops over the last 12 months. Emily has amassed an incredible 90 volunteer hours! Emily is now working as Technology Assistant at Monash in a schools’ outreach program called Internet of Things Kitchen Garden.
Akash Ramaswamy joined RTL in May of this year. He has contributed more than 78 volunteer hours and in Term 4 secured a role as a teaching assistant at Cornish College in a paid capacity. We are calling this new school program, “Adopt and Engineer”.
Vanessa Seow has volunteered for the last 12 months in workshops at BOSCH and took a lead role in developing the content for the 16 extension Workshops. Vanessa amassed an amazing 72 hours whilst completing her final year of her engineering degree! We are delighted that she will be taking up an internship with Agilent Technologies.
Finally, we recognized a founding member of the team Phi Nguyen who graduated in Aero Space last year. He is now working as an engineer at Fuji Elevators. Phi amassed and incredible 66 hours and was travelling over an hour each way to volunteer!
Congratulations to Farshad Aryanpur who just commenced his internship with BOSCH on Monday.
We are delighted so many facilitators are taking up these opportunities with industries. I haven’t listed them all and we certainly don’t take credit for the opportunities that these undergraduates are making a reality for themselves. We’re just playing our part. We are most grateful to Robogals Monash for their partnership in our work at BOSCH. Thank you Monique Lautee for the role you played in helping establish this partnership.
It’s great to see learning taking place on so many levels.
I’ll finish with a quote from a parent of a Grade 5 girl that just participated in our last series of workshops”.
“This workshop has opened her eyes to what is possible for her as a girl in the ’grown up world’ and shown her that she will only be limited by herself. For a young lady who will soon be asked to make decisions about ‘what she wants to be when be when she grows up, and make subject choices to support this, she has a better foundation than any child who spends an hour with a Careers Guidance Counsellor. This hands on, and face to face learning has been priceless.”
A special acknowledgement to Stephen Baker who likes to remain in the background but provides an invaluable Industry “lens” to the work carried out in the workshops.
Thanks to the Team for a great year!
