How Industry and University students partner with RTL to help inspire the next generation of Engineers!

It has been said it takes a village to raise a child. A great community getting around these young minds!
Ethan, in Grade 5 at Cornish College and his peers have now participated in 3 out 5 three-hour workshops RTL regularly host in partnership with BOSCH at their Head Office in Clayton. So good to be back hosting face to face workshops.
In Wednesday night’s workshop, students learnt about coding with Arduinos and continued with the assembly of their robot they will take home after the fifth workshop in the series.
In the fourth workshop students learn about CAD design. Lenny and Markus, Lenny’s Dad show Lahiru, a newly a-pointed RTL student leader and also in Year 8 at Beaumaris SC, how to use the 3D DREMEL printer BOSCH donated to RTL. Lenny is in Year 9 at Woodleigh School and has been an RTL student leader for the last 3 years.
Both Lenny and Lahiru will 3D print student designs from home in the coming weeks.
It was fantastic to have Benjamin Wang from Monash Motor Sports (MMS) as a guest speaker this week. Benjamin was able to demonstrate many practical applications of STEM through the work and his participation in MMS.
We were also very fortunate to have Gemma Wildermuth, RTL Student Leader and in Year 11 at Cornish College share her passion for STEM and FIRST with our team. Gemma was competing in a FIRST competition in Sydney last weekend. Her Team won the Innovation award.
If you know a student in Grades 5 to 8 who you think might be interested in the Term 3 Workshops, please do share the link below so they can apply. Applications close 23rd June 2021.
Similarly, STEM Undergraduates interested in our work can register their interest via this website. RTL have a growing team of STEM Graduates and Undergraduates that volunteer in workshops and some are in paid work in schools that partner with RTL’s Adopt an Engineer.
