Monash Motorsport Team inspire aspiring motorsport students from Grade 5 to 11 to take up engineering out at Calder Park Raceway yesterday
Once again students from Monash Motorsport generously took time out of their busy schedule at Auscomp to share their passion for Motorsport and Engineering.
So grateful to Olivia Dowling, Ananya Chari, Claire Morey, Chantelle Lloyd, James Heffernan and Hugo Markovski for taking the time over an extended lunch break to share their lived experienced as undergraduate engineers with students in Years 5 to 11.
A special moment for Jake Stewart and Jacques Menage’ students at Padua College to chat with Hugo Markovski, former past student and dux of Padua College. These informal discussions over lunch I’m sure will provide students with much inspiration.
A huge shout out to Dr Zara Dennis and Jayde Booth from Lauriston Girls School accompanying 9 girls from Year 10 to help inspire them as they prepare to take up Physics next year.
After lunch 18 students from Boneo PS joined us. These students recently placed 3rd in a HPV competition. It was pure joy for me to see the exchange of experience and ideas shared. The undergraduates kicked off by sharing what they perceive to be valuable insight and input for the students. Then the senior students shared what they are doing to further enhance their opportunities in pursuit of a career in motorsport. So inspiring!
We stayed with a theme – Education / Experience / Networking. Thank you to Chantel Collins of Motorsport Australia for sharing this with us earlier in the year where I first met some of these students present yesterday.
We are thankful to SAE for making this visit possible and for providing lunch. We are so grateful to Sally Reynolds for the informative tour she provided at the beginning of the day. Having been a past formula student and many years at Ford, Sally was such a great person to lead this tour. Thank you Adrian Feeney and the team at SAE for organizing Sally to not only lead the tour in the morning with the Secondary Students but the Primary students in the afternoon.
Many of the students in Secondary School came with parents. Pictured below is Tom and Daniel Palmer – Father and Son. Not pictured but also present, Alisdair and Sandra Macleod – Mother and Son. These students were proud to be ambassadors for Flinders Christian Community College. There were other parents and Grandparents that travelled 3 plus hours to provide their children with this unique opportunity to connect. All this just reinforces the importance of the “village raising the child”
For many students, this was their last day of the academic school year, some already on holidays and what a way to conclude the school year!
